Event details after the break
SF in SF Urban Fantasy Panel with Steve Boyett and Bruce McAllister - Saturday, April 21st at 7:00 pm - We are happy to help SF in SF welcome these authors!  Mr. Boyett and Mr. McAllister will discuss urban fantasy and probably read a bit, followed by Q&A from the audience moderated by author Terry Bisson.  Authors will schmooze & sign books after in the lounge. Books available for sale courtesy of Borderlands Books.  Seating is limited, so first come, first seated.  Bar proceeds benefit Variety Childrens Charity - learn more at <http://www.varietync.org/>.  We REALLY encourage you to take BART into the City, or use MUNI to get here - parking can be problematic in San Francisco, to say the least.  We are less than one block away from the Montgomery St. station.  Trust us - you don't want to be looking for parking and be late for the event!  Phone (night of event) 415-572-1015.  Questions? Email sfinsfevents@gmail.com.

Dana Fredsti, PLAGUE TOWN (Titan Books, Mass Market, $7.99) - Sunday, April 22nd at 3:00 pm - From the publisher: "In the small university town of Redwood Grove, people are succumbing to a lethal strain of flu. They are dying -- but not for long.  Ashley Parker and her boyfriend are attacked by these shambling, rotting creatures that crave human flesh. Their lives will never be the same again.  When she awakes Ashley discovers that she is a “wild card” --immune to the virus -- and is recruited by a shadowy paramilitary organization that offers her the chance to fight back. Fatally attracted to her gorgeous instructor, and bonding with her fellow wild cards, Ashley begins to discover skills she never knew she had.  As the town falls to ever-growing numbers of the infected, Ashley and her team fight to contain the outbreak -- but will they be enough?"  Dana Fredsti has been a guest at Borderlands when she was a contributor to "Morbid Curiosity" magazine, and we're glad to have her back with this novel!

Christopher Farnsworth, RED, WHITE AND BLOOD (Putnam, Hardcover, $25.95) - Saturday, April 28th at 3:00 pm - From the book jacket: "The Presidential Campaign Trail, 2012:  A political operative and a volunteer are brutally murdered while caught in a compromising position. Written in their blood on the wall of the crime scene: IT’S GOOD TO BE BACK.  And with that, a centuries-old horror known only as the Boogeyman returns to taunt Nathaniel Cade, the President’s Vampire. Against the backdrop of the 2012 presidential race, with the threat of constant exposure by the media, Cade and Zach must stop the one monster Cade has never been able to defeat completely. And they must do it before the Boogeyman adds another victim to his long and bloody list: the President of the United States himself."

Jack Campbell, THE LOST FLEET: BEYOND THE FRONTIER: INVINCIBLE (Ace, Hardcover, $26.95) - Friday, May 4th at 7:00 pm - We're excited to welcome John G. Hemry, (retired Naval officer and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis), writing the incredible "Lost Fleet" series of space adventures as Jack Campbell!   You can read an except from the new book here: http://74.53.37.13/c/283/invincible-excerpt .

Terry Bisson, ANY DAY NOW (Overlook, Hardcover, $24.95)  - Saturday, May 5th at 5:00 pm - Terry Bisson has written seven novels and a lot of brilliant short fiction, but ANY DAY NOW hearkens back to Terry's real-life activist roots.  From the publisher: "ANY DAY NOW is truly a literary tour de force.  It is a poignant excursion into the last days of the Beats and the emerging radicalized culture of the sixties from Kentucky to New York City and daringly unique.  This road movie of a novel, which begins as a fifties coming-of-age story and ends in an isolated hippy commune under threat of revolution, provides a transcendent commentary on America then and now."  We're delighted to welcome Terry back to Borderlands and hope you'll join us!

Walter Mosley, THE GIFT OF FIRE / ON THE HEAD OF A PIN (Tor, Hardcover, $24.99) - Thursday, May 10th at 7:00 pm  - We're very excited to welcome esteemed author Walter Moseley to Borderlands!  Mosley's newest book is a double novel; two speculative tales in one volume, about everyday people exposed to life-altering truths.  THE GIFT OF FIRE shows us the Prometheus of legend walking into present-day South Central Los Angeles, and ON THE HEAD OF A PIN gives us advanced animatronics that allow long-dead movie stars to share the screen with today's A-list.
